    The much anticipated Rand MPC Cyclone Vol. 2 will be released in May 2009, MSRP $200. As with Masterpiece Cyclone Vol. 1 Scott Bernard, these will be limited to 3,000 units worldwide and will be individually numbered. Featuring sturdy die-cast and plastic construction, the Cyclone arrives in its trademark Toynami “book style” packaging. Certificate of Authenticity is also included with each figure. Very similar to and less expensive than the Japanese Mospeada version – Beagle’s 1/10 VR-052T (Ley), Rand will come with an exclusive head sculpt only available in the Toynami’s MPC line.

    Anime, CMs, Macross Comments Off

    At Otakon 2008, HLJ had a booth. Very little in terms of merchandise but they did have some good deals. On the last day I perused through their box of mooks (japanese term for Magazine Book). I found this mook by MediaWorks called “CM’s Figure Special”

    From the Katakana on the mook, it reads:

    電撃ホビーマガジンスペシャルフィギュマニアックス = Dengeki Hobby Magazne Special FIGURE MANIACS

    シーエムズフィギュアスペシアル = CM’s Figure Special

    It is a Mook that shows a gallery of images of the CM’s toy lines. HLJ had it for $20 USD. The YEN price was 2500 Yen. So this was already below retail. Upon flipping through the mook, the main HLJ employee told me that she could work a deal on the book. I ended up buying the mook for $10 USD.

    Inside it shows the pvc figures that they make from various anime series such as Macross and Onegai Twins. They also show their mecha toy line from assorted posable figures to their Brave Gokin line of Gaogaigar to Patlabor.

    This mook is a little dated as it is showing preview b&w pictures of CM’s Legioss Tread toy which recently came out a few months ago. However it is a good gallery book if you like CM’s products.

    Here is the mook.

    I haven’t been paying much attention to the Summer Wonderfest (WF) coverage as I probably should have.  Otherwise I wouldn’t have missed this stuff.  There were plenty of great toys revealed and quite a few that were exclusive to the show.  I’m just going to highlight a few that I’ve been able to track down.

    Head over the CMs Homepage to and scroll down about a little to find pics of the WF exclusive metallic versions of Rey, Stick, Yellow, and a generic soldier version of their 1/18 scale ride armors. Each of them was limited to 100 pieces.

    Not to be outdone, Mega House sold an all black version of their ride armor and rider at WF. Okay maybe it’s not ALL black. It’s two toned sort of like Yamato’s 1/48 Stealth Valkyrie but the colors are more similar than the colors used by Yamato.

    And speaking of Yamato, they had shadow colored versions of their poseable GN-U versions of the YF-21, YF-19, and VF-11B. They were exclusive to WF but I heard that they will also be available on Yamato’s webstore starting September 1st. I guess it’s sort of like what Hasbro does with their exclusives after San Diego Comic Con. Anyway, you can see the figures at Yamato’s website here.
